Les worked in the polymer industry for over 35 years. After completing an MSc in physics before joining BP Chemical’s R&D department based in South Wales focusing on polyethylene grade development. He moved with the R&D department to the main production site at Grangemouth in 1984. He has written various papers on environmental stress cracking and electrical failure in wire and cable insulation. In 2003 he left BP Chemicals to set up with his co-directors, Impact Laboratories as a UKAS test facility focusing on testing packages for UN approval, pipe and material testing and continues to work as a material consultant for the company, leading the technical group and being involved in a series of Failure analysis and Expert witness cases. He is a member of the Institute of Physics and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and has recently been awarded a Fellowship for the later.

Mike is a top-class material scientist with more than 10 years of experience in the testing, R&D, Failure analysis in Polymer, plastics and Composites materials. Mike, whilst working for Impact Solutions has been the key expert advisors in a large series of failure analysis and expert witness cases. Mike’s passion for Material Development and Innovation which is couple with strong analytical skills have been acknowledged worldwide by being nominated as Chartered Materials Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Materials (IOM3), a member of the IUPAC subcommittee on Plastics, a member of the Member of the Society for Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering, SAMPE etc.
